Working in a remote Aboriginal Medical Service is a unique and challenging experience. What we continue to find within our teams across the APY Lands is that our people are what make us truly different.
As a part of a recent project, we discovered what the Nganampa Health Difference means for our people and why they continue to stay with us year after year. The key themes that make us different are the opportunities to… Embrace the real challenge; be vital, be rewarded, be supported.
An autonomous, diverse role on the frontline of primary healthcare for Indigenous Australians
With over 60,00 patient contacts per year, Nganampa Health plays a vital role in improving the primary healthcare of Indigenous Australians on the APY Lands. Operating seven clinics in the far north west of South Australia, NHC provide the opportunity to work with a range of different specialties including aged care, sexual health, environment health, health worker training, dental, women’s health, male health, children’s health, immunisation, eye health and mental health.
Within this unique setting our people have the opportunity to develop their skills, expand their thinking and develop proactive solutions to complex health issues. Read more about our accomplishments in healthcare here.
Excellent financial rewards and job satisfaction
We’re proud of our people, and we know they don’t turn up just for the perks. However, working remotely can be an incredibly challenging career and life choice, so we’re pleased to be able to provide financial and other benefits that are hard to come by elsewhere.
More than the tangible perks, comes the satisfaction of working in a place where you are truly valued. You may not see change everyday in your role, but with each small win you will feel rewarded by your impact on our community.
A professional organisation, a collaborative learning culture and a close staff community
We know that hard work is always made easier by a supportive team who recognise your efforts, and that’s exactly what we do at Nganampa Health. We’re a team of people connected and motivated by our impact on the community we serve. In any role there can be tough days and that’s when it’s nice to know you’re surrounded by a team of professionals who share your passion and who are always willing to help.
As in any medical health service, our environment and practice is ever changing. This is why we promote a collaborative learning culture. Through structured internal training and learning from your colleagues (who are experts in their field) our people continue to grow as professionals.
